DO YOU OFFER A FREE CONSULTATION?

I offer a free telephone consultation. In this conversation, we will get an initial feel for if we’d be a good fit. Feel free to ask whatever questions that come up for you in this conversation (of course your questions aren’t limited to this conversation). Therapists have a wide range of training and qualifications, therapeutic approaches, and personalities. I recommend meeting or speaking with a few different therapists before beginning this potentially life-changing work.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST SESSION?

At the beginning of our first session, you’ll provide me with some basic background information on a short intake form. We’ll also discuss the therapeutic relationship. This is a time for us to begin to get to know each other and continue to see if we are a good fit to work together. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, begin to articulate some goals for our time together, and I’ll answer any more questions you may have about what our sessions may look like. You will get a sense of what therapy with me will feel like and if you would like to continue.
​There are many different types of therapy, but the most important factor in determining if therapy will be effective is the level of comfort felt between you and your therapist. At the end our first session, if you feel like our fit is not what you’re looking for, I’m happy to provide a few referrals for you.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Currently, I only accept Cigna insurance and am an in-network provider.  It is your responsibility to contact Cigna to find out your co-pay and determine if you require pre-approval for mental health services provided by me.

For other insurance providers, upon request, I will provide a super-bill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Note: HMO’s will not reimburse for providers out of their network.  PPOs may only reimburse for specific providers and under specific circumstances, depending on your plan.  Many plans require pre-approval for coverage.  I recommend that you contact your insurance company to determine their coverage requirements before obtaining mental health services and anticipating reimbursement.

These are some questions you can ask your insurance provider about coverage for therapy:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits to see a mental health counselor?
  • If so, what percentage do you cover?
  • What is the deductible, and how much of the deductible have I met?
  • What is my co-pay for a session if I see an out-of-network provider?
  • How many sessions are covered, and in what time period?
  • How do I access the form(s) needed to submit a request for reimbursement?

WHAT IS YOUR FEE FOR THERAPY?

My fee for a standard 50-minute session is $150. For a 90-minute session, the fee is $225.
